Zoetis CatBurglar
This campaign was developed to raise awareness about OA pain in cats. It was my first time working with live-action footage and CG integration, and it was super fun to work with this CatBurglar character!
I worked on this project while interning at Hornet, and I learned a lot about lighting and shading throughout this project. Specifically, how to set up and render CG for live-action, and also a technical way to approach lighting using raw plates as reference.
I was a CG Lighter on the team, and I did the prop modeling and shading on the spinning fan shot. It was definitely the most challenging shot, but it is also my favorite!
I developed a light rig that had to work from every angle since the camera does a 360° spin of the character. Without a CG environment, part of the challenge was creating depth with shadows and light that matched the footage. I built highlights to mimic the window light and balanced the shadow points to keep the room's ambiance. There was a lot of detail and thought put into this shot. We even added dust to the fan! I caught myself keeping close attention to dust clumps everywhere for reference throughout those weeks.
These are the shots I was responsible for lighting and rendering!
